Psalm 28 (NIV) To you, Lord, I call; you are my Rock, do not turn a deaf ear to me. For if you remain silent, I will be like those who go down to the pit. Hear my cry for mercy as I call to you for help, as I lift up my hands toward your Most Holy Place.
During this time when we are following the guidelines, it seems that being lonely is commonplace. Why God? Why are we going through this? Why do I feel so bad? Why do I have to be alone?
Feel that God is being silent? I know I’ve felt that way sometimes. Looking in the Old Testament we see “God heard” over and over. He heard Hagar. He heard the Israelites. He heard Manoa.
Who is Manoa? He was the father of Samson. You know the big guy that could knock down buildings and he had the long hair blowing in the wind.
The angel of the LORD came to Manoa’s wife, Zorah. The angel told her she would have a son so don’t go drinking and gorging on ice cream. Not really, but he gave her some guidelines on what she could eat and drink. Zorah told her husband and he said Umm…God? I’m sorry to bother you, but my wife told me this crazy stuff about having a child. We will need your help raising him.
Judges 13:9 says “God heard Manoah, and the angel of God came again to the woman while she was out in the field…”(NIV)
Manoa went to God. He was honest with God by saying he needed help and he believed God would help him.
Loneliness Lesson #2 Even when you think God is not listening, he is.
Read Judges 13. Are you lonely? Be honest with God. Ask for his help and believe he will help you. Let us all strive to be like Manoa.
comforting words for today.
Thank you for your kind words!
Ironic you put ice cream since that’s a common food pregnant women crave! Not a common bible story you hear of often. Way to dig deep!
Thank you for your kind comments!
