Psalm 6:6 (NIV)
All night long I flood my bed with weeping
and drench my couch with tears.
My eyes grow weak with sorrow;
When I feel sad or lonely I cry. It is a natural reaction and sometimes it is a release. My mind can’t process the emotions within me so I cry. I cry out of anger. I cry out of frustration. I cry out of sadness.
The Bible tells us in Psalms 56 that God keeps track of our sleepless nights and enters our tears in a ledger. Other versions of this verse say that God puts our tears in a bottle.
This shows us that he remembers our tears and pain. God understands how we feel and doesn’t want us to be sad.
Matthew 5:4
Blessed are those who mourn,
for they will be comforted.
When you feel sad or lonely turn to the One who writes your tears on a ledger. Reach out and contact a friend. During this time of social distancing, send an e-mail or a card to show that you care. Doing a small gesture for someone else may boost your mood and help you to feel better.
