I’m behind on my writer prompts so I’ve got to combine several to catch up. Today’s list will be:
“Change the World” “A Quiet Lake” “Any Questions” “The Book” I’m thinking of going two ways with this one. I could write a fictional story about it, but I think I’m going to write a religious post. Make it a bit more difficult and flex my thinking muscles. I’ll bold them so you can see if I get all of the prompts or not.
Can You Change the World?
He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
Matthew 17:20 (NIV)
According to the Bible, which I will refer hereinafter as “The Book”, it says in Matthew 4:13 (NIV) “ Leaving Nazareth, he went and lived in Capernaum, which was by the lake in the area of Zebulun and Naphtali— “

“The Book” also says he taught by the lake, sat by the lake, and was in a boat by the lake. He also calms a storm in the lake.
Jesus Calms the Storm
Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed him. Suddenly a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!”
He replied, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.
Matthew 8:23-26 (NIV)
Daresay the lake was a quiet lake after Jesus calmed the storm?
When Jesus was walking around preaching and teaching, did he think he could Change the World? I can’t answer that question, but I do believe that Jesus thought he could change his world. Look at all of the good he did in just three years? All of the people he changed, healed, blessed, taught, and loved.
He went into preaching with starting in his world around him. I think as Christians, similarly, we should do the same. Let’s change our world. How you act and react to the things directly around you. Little by little the love and hope of Jesus will permeate and grow. That is what we are called to do.
Start today. Be grateful and show grace to everyone you speak with today. Find a verse in “The Book” and let it be your verse of the day. Show some kindness to your barista or the person at the cash register. Be sure to smile and thank them. You may be the only good thing that happens to them today. You may not Change The World, but you can Change Your World.
Any Questions?
I love the websites you post in your blog to enhance and support your writings.
Thank you! I had fun with that one.
