Wish, List, or Dream?

An interesting blog topic I stumbled upon is the word “wish”. Personally, I think the difference between a wish, dream and a list is the concept of action and accountability.

You may have heard of Lou Holtz. He was at one time the coach of Notre Dame. When he was in his twenties he complied a list of 107 items that he wanted to complete. He called them “goals” as opposed to “list”. I like the idea of a lifetime goal rather than bucket list. Bucket list sounds depressing to me.

At last count in the articles I found on the internet, he had completed 102 out of the 107 items on his list.

I’m lucky if I get everything on my grocery list.

Here’s some things I would like to accomplish. Is it a wish, list or dream?

I haven’t decided yet.

  • Write a best selling books.
  • Run a popular blog.
  • Attend seminary and get a doctorate.
  • Own a home with a big kitchen with two ovens and a kitchen island with a sink in it.
  • Own a home with a big bathroom that has a garden tub.
  • Have the ability to make a substantial donation to charities of my choice.
  • Use the doctorate to be employed as a counselor or chaplain.
  • Have enough money to not worry about bills, live comfortably, and help those who I want to help.
  • Run a donations only restaurant, like Drexel and Honeybees

My dreams and ideas change from year to year and change as I age. Some have stayed with me for a while and others are new.

What about you? Do you have wishes, lists and dreams?
