“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,”
Romans 3:23 (NIV)
That Guilty Feeling
This question is more geared towards feelings of guilt. Something inside of you that you can’t let go.
You said or did something, have regret and beat yourself up about it.
Guilt in Leviticus
I’ve been listening to a Bible study on Leviticus. For me, it is making the crucifixion clearer as to why certain things were done.
When I think about it, the Israelites had a system. You do something wrong and you do this and that and then you’re square. Everything is good until you do it again.
I have no visible way to see that I am forgiven, therefore, I sometimes feel that I’m not. Maybe it is just me.
These thoughts get in my head and I ruminate over them. I run the gamut of all feelings and left with the thought that is it something I did.
What does the Bible say?
Forgiveness
“And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.”
Matthew 6:12 (NIV)
“Truly I tell you, people can be forgiven all their sins and every slander they utter,”
Mark 3:28 (NIV)
“Therefore, my friends, I want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you.”
Acts 13:18 (NIV)
“In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace”
Ephesians 1:7 (NIV)
Going back to Romans, I read in the commentary
“Glory of God.–What is this glory? Probably not here, as in Romans 8:18; Romans 8:21, the glory which will be inaugurated for the saints at the Parusia, or Second Coming of the Messiah–for that is something future–but, rather, something which is capable of being conferred in the present, viz., the glory which comes from the favour and approval of God. This favour and approval Jew and Gentile alike had hitherto failed to obtain, but it was now thrown open to all who became members of the Messianic kingdom.”

The Original Question
Back to the original question. Is guilt from God? I would say no. Yes, we are guilty and need to realize that He is God and we are not, but once we believe in Christ all the baggage is gone.
Forgiveness is not only asking for God’s forgiveness, but also forgiving yourself.
“‘Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against anyone among your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the Lord.”
Leviticus 19:18 (NIV)
