I was thinking about the different books that have impacted me and mulling over the idea of doing a series about them. Admittedly, choosing a favorite book for me is hard to do.
Here are some books that impacted me, by causing me to cry when I read them. I didn’t know when reading them that it would have that effect on me. I generally don’t choose to read something that is going to upset me.
If you haven’t read them you may want to although, don’t say you weren’t warned. I’ve included links to purchase the books below and included the articles on Wikipedia. You may not want to look at the articles until after you’ve read the book.
Charlotte’s Web
“Some Pig. Humble. Radiant. These are the words in Charlotte’s Web, high up in Zuckerman’s barn. Charlotte’s spiderweb tells of her feelings for a little pig named Wilbur, who simply wants a friend. They also express the love of a girl named Fern, who saved Wilbur’s life when he was born the runt of his litter.”

Most people have read this book. Such a sweet, touching story.
Saint Ben
“Ben Beamering, the youngest son of the new pastor, causes problems for his father and the congregation with his outspoken honesty.”

I happened to be reading this one at work when the waterworks started. Luckily I was at lunch and had time to recover before starting work again.
Me Before You
“Louisa Clark is an ordinary girl living an exceedingly ordinary life – steady boyfriend, close family – who has never been farther afield than her tiny village. She takes a badly needed job working for ex-Master of the Universe Will Traynor, who is wheelchair bound after an accident. Will has always lived a huge life – big deals, extreme sports, worldwide travel – and now he’s pretty sure he cannot live the way he is.”

I was on the bus reading this when the waterfalls started. That was a nightmare. I didn’t have any tissues.
When God Whispers Your Name
“Do you find it hard to believe that the One who made everything keeps your name on His heart and on His lips? Did you realize that your name is written on the hand of God (Is. 49:16)? Perhaps you’ve never seen your name honored. And you can’t remember when you heard it spoken with kindness. In this book, Lucado offers the inspiration to believe that God has already bought the ticket-with your name on it.”

This book touched my heart. Max Lucado is a wonderful author and pastor.
Do you have any books that were so well written that they made you cry?
Thank you for these awe inspiring suggestions. I am very interested to read Saint Ben because I love the title! I too read Me Before You and it was so good that I borrowed Me After You, and I ended up purchasing Still Me because the Library wait was too long and I needed to finish the trilogy! Lol They did had Silver Bay and The Horse Dancer by her to borrow though… this last one was my very favorite. About a girl and her Gramps. I look forward to checking out Max Lucado’s writings now too. Thank you! ❤️
