What is Soaking Music?

I’ve come across this concept recently. It is the term “soaking music”. I’ve done some research and this is what I’ve come up with.

According to Wikipedia

Soaking Music otherwise known as Soaking Prayer music or Soaking Worship music, is a subgenre of  Christian Music, and is commonly used to denote songs that are used during contemplative prayer in prayer houses and other “soaking” Christian meetings. The description broadly encompasses any Christian music that is conducive to these types of gatherings.

I’ve listened to some of the music while painting and doing other things. It is relaxing and I need to carve out some time to listen while meditating on scripture or just meditating on the goodness and grace of The Trinity.

I’ll also note that in some of the research it is requested that you play the music on a loop and listen to it while sleeping.

Some of the music incorporates scripture. That would be a wonderful way to have scripture put into your subconscious to help you throughout the day.

Katie Souza and Janie Duvall

I listened to some Janie Duvall soaking music that had Katie Souza reading Bible verses along with it. The soaking music is available on Amazon music and you can find some on YouTube.

There are a lot of soaking type music on YouTube that incorporate Bible verses.

Here’s another website that tells about soaking music

Some churches have what they call “healing rooms”. This is a new concept to me, so I can’t comment on what happens there. I would guess that this type of music is played and if it is a congregational meeting, there would be silent/leader led prayers.

Look into it for yourself and let me know what you think. Any time that we can devote to meditating on God is a good thing. We all need to spend time in adoration.
