I had a dream and in this dream, the letters “Y” “I” were everywhere. I saw them hanging on banners and buildings. The next morning, I tried to figure out what it meant. Nothing came to me so I just chalked it up to a weird dream.
Later in the day, I was talking with my Mom and she said something about “Embracing Your Individuality”. I thought, “That’s it!” I believe I was commenting on myself in a negative way and she said I needed to embrace my differences.
As Christians, we are called to be holy and separate ourselves from the world.
“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.”
1 Peter 2:9 (NIV)
“But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: ‘Be holy, because I am holy.'”
1 Peter 1:14-16 (NIV)
The verses in 1 Peter 1:14-16 refer to Leviticus. God is telling the Israelites what can and cannot be eaten and he tells them to be holy as He is holy.
“I am the Lord your God; consecrate yourselves and be holy, because I am holy. Do not make yourselves unclean by any creature that moves along the ground. I am the Lord, who brought you up out of Egypt to be your God; therefore be holy, because I am holy.”
Leviticus 11:44-45 (NIV)
Moses reminds them again when more laws are given.
“Speak to the entire assembly of Israel and say to them: ‘Be holy because I, the Lord your God, am holy.'”
Leviticus 19:2 (NIV)
Christians can get caught up in the drama of our surroundings, but we need to keep our focus on God.
Jesus tells us in Matthew:
“Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.”
Matthew 10:29-31 (NIV)
God knows us and knows our heart.
“But the Lord said to Samuel, ‘Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.’”
1 Samuel 6:7 (NIV)
It is ok to be different and not like everyone else.
“See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.”
1 John 3:! (NIV)
Thank the Lord for all He has given to you. He made you the way you are for a reason!
“Bless the Lord, O my soul; and all that is within me, bless His holy name!”
Psalm 103:1 (KJ21)
Here’s some music about the above verses. I hope you enjoy!
