Dealing With Frustration

Ephesians 4:26-27 (MSG)

Go ahead and be angry. You do well to be angry—but don’t use your anger as fuel for revenge. And don’t stay angry. Don’t go to bed angry. Don’t give the Devil that kind of foothold in your life.

When I first decided to write a blog, I thought, “Oh, this will be great.  I’ll write these blogs and give God the glory and everything will be great!”  I didn’t know I’d have to be web designer, marketing director, graphic designer, and author.  I didn’t realize how much work really goes into it and how much I have to do on my own to increase growth.

I’m stumbling my way through to do all these things and when I finish the have to’s, I don’t feel like writing, which is the want to.  I…get….frustrated.

I’m frustrated because I don’t know about a lot of these things.  I’m not a social media giant, influencer, or have an internet presence.  I don’t know about analytics, SEOs and keywords.  I write what I feel I should write about.  I pray about it and ask for guidance.

When Paul wrote to the Ephesians, he had a pen and paper.  He didn’t have to make sure that the internet would pick up what he was saying.  He says don’t get mad.  That’s easy to tell someone else not to get angry.  I’d like to see him get the frowny face when his SEO isn’t correct and see how he reacts.  He wasn’t known as the most genteel person.

Ecclesiastes 7:9

Don’t be quick to fly off the handle. Anger boomerangs. You can spot a fool by the lumps on his head.

I like Ecclesiastes.  It makes me feel like I’m understood and that the author knows how I’m feeling. The Message translation of the Bible refers to the author as “The Quester”. The book is attributed to being written by Solomon.

He says in vs 7: 14

On a good day, enjoy yourself;

On a bad day, examine your conscience.

God arranges for both kinds of days

So that we won’t take anything for granted.

And in

Ecclesiastes 5:19 (NIV

Moreover, when God gives someone wealth and possessions, and the ability to enjoy them, to accept their lot and be happy in their toil—this is a gift of God.

I need to focus on being happy. I have the ability to write and the opportunity to use different forms of technology to accomplish my goals.  I need to be grateful and count my blessings, but it is difficult.

James 5:13 (NIV)

[ The Prayer of Faith ] Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise.

Do you get frustrated with things?  It is ok to get frustrated, but you can’t stay there.  You’ve got to move on. Let’s make a pact that we will work on our frustration.  If we feel our blood pressure rising, we will stop what we are doing and focus on something good.

James 1:17 (NIV)

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.
