What is Epiphany?

After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem and asked, “Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.”

Matthew 2:1-2 (NIV)

January 6 is Epiphany. According to Merriam-Webster online it is

“observed as a church festival in commemoration of the coming of the Magi as the first manifestation of Christ to the Gentiles or in the Eastern Church in commemoration of the baptism of Christ.”

Here are some great articles about the Magi and Epiphany:

I’ve learned so much about this holiday and how different people celebrate. After the hustle of Christmas is over and we are settling in to our new year, we need to be silent and follow the star. It will lead the way.
