Living Your Life as A Prayer

I made a mistake with my post from yesterday. I’ll thought I sent out the e-mail, but I didn’t. I will add a link at the bottom to yesterday’s post.

“Rejoice always,  pray without ceasing,  in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NKJV)

I’ve been thinking a lot about prayer. It is important to me and we should do it more.

If we were to live our life as a prayer, how would that look?

  • Be Thankful

“So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him,  rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.”

Colossians 2:6-7 (NIV)
We should be thankful for everything. The little things to the big things. Acknowledge them and give thanks to God.
  • Don’t be afraid to ask God for help

“If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!”

Matthew 7:11 (NIV)
Have a problem? Ask God for help. Look to the Bible for answers along with prayer. Ask others to pray for you and with you.
  • Let your light shine.

“Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.  In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

Matthew 5:15-16 (NIV)
Go throughout your day with the light of Christ shining within you and out of you.
  • Be quick to acknowledge your mistakes, but move on.

“And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.”

Matthew 6:12 (NIV)
Did you honk at that driver? Glower at the barista? Did you get in a fight with your spouse? Acknowledge your mistakes, ask God to help you control your emotions. Ask forgiveness from the other person if you can.
  • Do something nice for someone else.

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.”

You honked at one driver..let someone else merge in front of you. Pay for someone’s food behind you at the drive-thru. Buy your spouse a little surprise to make up for the argument.
  • Spend time with God.
Any time spent with God is better than no time at all. Spend the time in prayer, reading the Word, or just listening.
  • Pray for others
Everyone in the whole world needs prayer. You don’t have to know them to pray for them. You don’t have to like them either. Pray for them.

If you live your live as a prayer and seek God daily. You will notice his presence in your life. I leave you with The Lord’s Prayer. Take a few minutes and reflect on the words.

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy name.

Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on Earth, as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the Kingdom, and the power and the glory for ever. Amen.

Matthew 6:9-13 (NKJV)
